Great for the small area where a light is needed on all the time. July 28, 2007 Jay (Silver Spring, Moldova, Republic of) 19 out of 21 found this review helpful
I'm on a energy efficiency mission. Upon moving into our recent house, I switched everything (my wife would allow) to florescent or compact florescent. Now I am looking to replace the remaining that is on dimmer or that we need to leave on for extended periods of time.
This works great in the bathroom as a night light and in the hallways. That's what I use it for. Its enough to see and be safe. The output is equivalent to a 40 watt normal bulb. We are very happy with the performance.
The manufacturer must have made modifications since the previous reviews. Our bulb has a refractive globe which diffuses the light in all directions rather than just shining downward.
If you are looking to guide in aircraft, this is not your bulb. If this is what you are looking for, wait for the "Geobulb" by the same company. It is expected to hit the market Fall 2007.
good light for the price July 28, 2010 MY2Dogs (South Carolina) I have this light in my office where I am on the computer, its in a ceiling fan above my head, its perfect for this area, it allows me to see what I need to see but its not overpowering, I read on the box you can leave this light on 12 hrs a day for a year for about a dollar, now that may vary due to your price per kilowatt but if I can run it for a while and it only cost pennies I have no complaints. Also it has a 2 year warranty.
I purchased 2 of these and put the other light in the kitchen, we leave that light on all the time, its great for your eyes when you get up in the middle of the night to get a drink or whatever. Bottom line if you need a little light and you want to leave it on this is a nice product, and its made by C.Crane they make tons of stuff for survival or innovative items.
Just bright enough - very cool January 6, 2009 A student 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
First of all, this is NOT your standard desk/floor/ceiling lamp-incandescent replacement. If you intend on lighting the area where you're working/playing/reading etc buy a compact fluorescent, or at least something with more LEDs and warmer color. It is simply not bright enough for these uses.
This is a very, very cool bulb, in every sense: the light color is almost blueish, it's so cool. It also doesn't get warm in temperature at all. And of course it's cool to show off to your friends the high-tech bulb.
It is also quite rugged. While I don't recommend you kick it around, it is hard plastic and will survive being dropped a couple feet onto concrete, something you cannot say about any other kind of bulb.
What it's not, is very bright. It's a rather dim bulb by most standards, but this is not necessarily a knock against it. Given how little power it draws, it's very ideal for anywhere you need a little bit of light, that's on all the time.
I placed it in our hallway - it is bright enough to make walking safe, dim enough to not wake up someone who's walking through the hall half-asleep, and also not shine excess light in people's bedrooms (like our 14 watt CFL did). The low power consumption also means we leave it on all night.
Great LED from C.Crane January 13, 2009 Scotty E. Millar (Reading, PA) 1 out of 6 found this review helpful
I bought one bulb from this seller and it's great. Now that I've tried it out and seen how LED's can be used in the right situations, I' going to buy more. I also contacted and worked with the service department. They were responsive and helpful.
I bought it for a garage door opener light June 21, 2006 Dr. C 88 out of 91 found this review helpful
I have a fairly old Sears chain garage door opener that was killing light bulbs about once/week. This light is immune (so far) to the vibration.
Even though this is very dim (60 lumens versus 1085 lumens in a 75 watt bulb), it at least puts some light in the garage until my other automatic lights go on when I get out of the car.
***1+ year update: Still hasn't burned out!
