| Customer Reviews: Can't find in any store June 14, 2009 Rickey D. Shelton (Newberry, FL) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
We could not find this particular size (9 inch) circular bulb for our ceiling fan anywhere in town. We went to all the big hardware stores and even a couple of speciality lighting stores with no luck. I even contacted the maker of the ceiling fan and they said they had not heard of that bulb before. Now, how could that be since it is the only bulb that fits in their fan? Amazon is the only place I was able to find the bulb I needed. It is perfect, so we ordered a bunch of them have on hand. Thank you.
Great Product November 25, 2008 H. Johnson 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
A great product at a good price. Not easy to find in my neighborhood, especially at this price.
Works great, bright light December 6, 2009 C. Campbell (Florida) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Myself like many others have a Hampton Bay fan which takes this bulb. Unfortunately you couldn't buy a replacement buld for it even the day after you brought the fan home. Home Depot, Lowes, etc.. no one had the replacement bulbs.
The packaging was a little lax so when I opened the box to find the bulb OK I was relieved. I haven't had a light in my fan for over a year because I couldn't find the bulbs locally. Decided to check online somewhere and voila. Thank god Amazon had the exact one I needed.
Just FYI for those who have the TCP Circline Adapter you can actually unhook it from the fan and there is a regular bulb socket in the fan! You don't actually need the circular bulb. I didn't realize that until I saw the Circline Adapter here on Amazon under the "Recommended Products" thingy and it had a screw base in the diagram. Check it out.
I absolutely love the circular bulb style because of the way it lights the whole room evenly. Since I got the first one to make sure it works I'll be buying a couple more as spares.
Great Deal on these lights... December 15, 2009 K. Giblin 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I read the previous reviews that said these lights were the same as the expensive hard to find bulbs and bought them instead. They were right. Since I got a deal at Costco for these fixtures that use these bulbs I decided to buy a bunch of these bulbs because I have so many light fixtures I will be supporting in the future. Can recommend this light bulb and seller....
Nice color, don't seem to last long. December 18, 2009 Tom (NJ, USA) I don't have a hard time finding these exact bulbs at my orange home improvement store.
A few years ago I replaced a couple of ceiling lights in my kitchen with MaxLite ceiling fixtures which take these bulbs.
The MaxLite bulbs that came with the fixture had a definite green cast that I associate with fluorescent bulbs. When one of the MaxLite bulbs stopped working, I replaced it with one of these TCP bulbs I found at HD.
The color difference was quite remarkable. The TCP bulb gave off a very natural looking light that didn't have a green cast. The paint colors in the room looked like they were supposed to again. Seeing them side by side forced me to replace the other bulb as well. It sucks to spend so much time trying to pick the right paint colors and then just watching them tint green at night when the lights are on. These bulbs fixed that problem.
Light output is good, color is great. Only downside is they don't seem to last as long as the MaxLite's they replaced. The kitchen gets a lot of use so the lights do stay on for quite some time but there are times when they are cycled on and off for short periods.
Ordering the bulbs online was cheaper than getting them at HD.
As for cost savings, it doesn't seem that great, especially since I'm lucky to get 1-1.5 years out of the bulbs (some half that). I'm probably saving a little, a lot considering I got the fixtures at such a great deal (including bulbs) but it's a bit inconvenient when a bulb goes out. Ordered a couple of replacement sets. Once they go though, I will seriously consider replacing the fixtures with something else. Hopefully in a couple of years there might be a better alternative.
I'm happy with the bulbs when they work, but when they die it can be a hassle and expensive to replace.
